About The Croft

Nestled in an idyllic rural village on the border of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, The Croft is one of six specialist children's residential care homes operated by Footsteps to Futures. Opened in August 2024, The Croft provides a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for up to three children, aged 7 to 18 years.

Set in a calm and peaceful location, the home is surrounded by nature and offers a serene setting that supports emotional healing and personal growth. The Croft’s beautiful, welcoming property includes a large front garden, modern kitchen, cosy lounge, spacious dining room (which also serves as a study space), a modern bathroom, and a separate utility room — all designed to create a warm and homely atmosphere where young people can feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

The Croft supports mixed-gender placements and specialises in working with young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Our highly trained team includes specialist staff and psychological services, allowing us to provide personalised, trauma-informed care tailored to each child’s needs. We focus on consistency, compassion, and a genuinely therapeutic approach to care.

In our most recent Ofsted inspection, The Croft was rated “Good” in all areas, reflecting our commitment to high-quality care, safety, and positive outcomes for the young people we support.

At the heart of The Croft is our diverse, fun, and passionate team, who are dedicated to building strong, trusting relationships and creating a space where every child can thrive and feel a true sense of belonging.

As The Croft continues to grow, we’re always looking to welcome friendly, committed individuals who share our vision and values to join our team and help make a difference.

At The Croft:

  • Stunning rural home for up to three children
  • Mixed gender
  • Specialist staff working with younger children in emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • High quality care from an experienced team
  • Access to bespoke psychological services

Meet our Registered Manager

Hi I’m Zoe, the Registered Manager of The Croft.

I joined the company in 2023. I have worked within the care sector since leaving school and started by journey as a residential care worker in 2010.

I started as a very green RCW and have worked my way up through the progressions of the role, to senior, deputy, trainee manager and then registered manager. I always knew I wanted to be a Manager, and I really do pinch myself sometimes that I am in this position, it is a privilege.

Its a challenging but rewarding role. You need to have the passion and drive to want to make a difference and improve children and young people's lives and futures. I feel incredibly lucky to work with such amazing people, teams and children.

The team in my home is equally driven, and the commitment they make to children and each other inspires me every single day. Our job is to build relationships with everyone we meet, strive to achieve positive outcomes and wherever possible improve service delivery. This is the heart of everything we do, and what keeps us motivated.

I love being part of Footsteps to futures, they are warm, supportive and driven to be the best they can be. The atmosphere in the home is relaxed and very much a family feel, where my dog Hector often joins us too! We thrive on the normalities of everyday interactions and without a doubt, this is a family. There is genuine love in our home.
