Welcome to Swallow Grange
At Swallow Grange Alternative Provision, we specialise in supporting children aged 4–11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
We provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children can rebuild confidence, develop emotional resilience, and engage positively with learning. Every aspect of our provision is designed to meet each child’s individual educational, therapeutic, and wellbeing needs.

Who We Support
Swallow Grange is a provision for children who:
- Are aged 4–11 years.
- Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) identifying SEMH needs.
- Require specialist therapeutic and educational support beyond mainstream or other local provision.

Our Approach
We combine high-quality teaching with a strong therapeutic framework to create a holistic provision tailored to each child’s needs.
1. Therapeutic Support
- Multi-disciplinary therapeutic team, including play therapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapy, and counselling.
- Trauma-informed practice embedded across the school.
- Bespoke therapeutic plans aligned with EHCP outcomes.
2. Education
- Small class sizes with high staff-to-pupil ratios.
- Qualified teachers experienced in SEMH and SEND.
- A broad and balanced curriculum, adapted to meet individual needs.
- Focus on literacy, numeracy, communication, and life skills.
3. Environment
- Calm, structured classrooms designed for safety and learning.
- Sensory and quiet spaces for emotional regulation.
- Outdoor learning through our Forest School, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and resilience.
Our Staff
- Qualified Teachers with SEMH and SEND expertise
- Therapeutic Practitioners offering targeted interventions.
- Learning Mentors & Support Staff trained in behaviour regulation, de-escalation, and restorative practice.
- Safeguarding & Inclusion Leads ensuring the wellbeing and protection of every child.
Fees & Funding
All placements at Swallow Grange are commissioned and fully funded by the referring Local Authority.
- Parents and carers do not pay fees.
- Funding covers: education, therapeutic provision, specialist staff, resources, and outdoor learning.
- The only additional cost is transport, which remains the responsibility of the Local Authority or family.
