About Overfields Farm

Tucked away in a beautiful and tranquil village on the border of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, Overfields Farm is a picturesque cottage and the third home to open at Footsteps to Futures, welcoming its first young people in September 2020.

Home to up to three children aged 7 to 18, Overfields Farm offers high-quality, therapeutic care in a peaceful rural setting. The countryside theme is echoed throughout, creating a calm, rustic, and homely atmosphere. Inside, you’ll find a large lounge area, a spacious rustic kitchen, a cosy dining room, modern bathroom, and comfortable bedrooms — all designed to support a sense of safety, comfort, and belonging.

With the support of our experienced and attentive team and bespoke psychological services, we help young people work through past experiences and build a brighter, more hopeful future.

At Overfields, no two days are ever the same. From nurturing educational progress and building independence skills to organising exciting day trips to the seaside or adventures at places like Alton Towers, we strive to create meaningful and enriching experiences every day. Our goal is to help young people build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self-worth.

The home welcomes mixed-gender placements and offers an inclusive, supportive environment where each child is treated as an individual. Our most recent Ofsted inspection rated Overfields Farm as “Good” in all areas, reflecting the strength of our care and the positive outcomes we help to achieve.

As we continue to grow, we are always looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team — people who want to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

At Overfields Farm:

  • Stunning rural home for up to three children
  • Mixed gender
  • Specialist staff working with younger children in emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • High quality care from an experienced team
  • Access to bespoke psychological services

Meet our Registered Manager

Hi, I’m Rachael, the Manager at Overfields Farm.

I have worked in the care industry for 23 years, starting my career supporting adults with mental health and progressing to a senior role then into management of a Walk in Centre for those with alcohol addictions and substance misuse.

As much as I enjoyed this job it was time for a new challenge. I knew I wanted to stay in the care industry and felt working with children would give me the job satisfaction I needed, so in 2015 I joined Footsteps to Futures as a Bank Residential Care Worker. I was committed and passionate about the work I was doing and quickly progressed into a Deputy Role, then up to Manager for a short period.

After a little break from residential care where I went to work in Quality Assurance, I decided now was the time to go back to doing what I love and return to Footsteps to Futures, taking over Overfields Farm as Manager in Feb 2024.

I enjoy being able to give a home to children who really need someone on their side, to keep them safe, make them feel wanted and advocate for them with their best interests at heart. We all work as a team with a common goal, and that is to make sure every child that passes through these doors gets the help, support, care and love they need.
