Hilltop House

In a more urban area of North Nottinghamshire, Hilltop House provides a therapeutic environment for up to 3 children.

“It is one of the best homes I have come across. Staff are always on the ball, checking on the YP. The care is excellent, so attentive to the YP and caring and respectful.”

Hilltop House

Opened in January 2015, Hilltop House holds a special place as the very first home established by Footsteps to Futures. Located in a slightly more urban part of North Nottinghamshire, the home is ideally situated within easy reach of Nottingham and Derby, and just a short drive from the beautiful Peak District, offering a perfect balance of city convenience and countryside calm.

Hilltop House provides a therapeutic and nurturing environment for up to three children of any gender, aged 7–18. Specialising in care for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), the home offers round-the-clock 1:1 support delivered by a team of dedicated and experienced Residential Care Workers.

The house itself is warm, spacious, and modern, designed to feel truly homely. It features a large lounge-dining area that flows into a long, fully equipped kitchen, and a light-filled conservatory that serves as a space for studying or simply relaxing. Every aspect of the home is designed to promote comfort, stability, and a sense of belonging.

At Hilltop House, we go beyond day-to-day care. Our team facilitates group work sessions that focus on essential life skills such as self-esteem, identity, self-worth, and social problem-solving, helping young people build a strong foundation for their future. With access to bespoke psychological services, children are supported in addressing past trauma, managing emotions, and developing healthy relationships.

We are proud to say that Hilltop House consistently receives positive feedback from external professionals, local authorities, and families — a reflection of the positive outcomes we help achieve in the lives of the young people we care for.

As with all Footsteps to Futures homes, we are always looking to welcome passionate, friendly individuals who share our vision and want to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

At Hilltop House:

  • Provision for up to three young people
  • 1:1 staffing
  • Support tailored around improving life skills and well-being
  • Expert staff specialising in emotional support
  • Access to bespoke psychological services

Meet our Registered Manager

Hi, I’m Emma, the Registered Manager of Hilltop House.

I joined Footsteps to Futures 5 years ago as a Residential Care Worker and have worked my way through the ranks to become RM within 2 years and have completed Level 5 Leadership and Management.

After joining the team, I knew I wanted to progress and one day run my own home. The job has so many rewards; giving young people a chance to have a stable, nurturing, and loving home, but also being able to support staff to be the best they can be so that the young people are supported and feel wanted.

I truly believe that all children deserve the best possible start in life and my aim is to make sure that all young people I work with make positive, happy memories, learn the skills they need for life and to receive the right support to help overcome previous life experiences.

I love being with people that make me laugh, but hate being laughed at!

Between being a RM and a mum I am always busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
